Orbital Foreign Body

This patient was stabbed with a pencil as seen in the CT scan images. The pencil traversed through his superior lid near the medial canthal region, passing near the globe while indenting but not penetrating it. The pencil then violated the ethmoid and sphenoid sinuses with the tip breaking in the sphenoid sinus. Amazingly, this was simply pulled through the entry site without incident, the canalicular system was stented, and the lid laceration was repaired. The patient was 20/30 without correction following the injury.
